The design Process
This is a quick explanation of what you as a client can expect throughout a project from inquiry to delivery!
Feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
Process details may vary depending on the type of project…
-
After inquiring, we will set up a free consultation meeting so that I can better understand your design needs and goals. This is where I take time to listen to you as a client.
-
After the consultation, I will write up and send over a project proposal and design brief that encompass all that was discussed in our initial meeting. The proposal includes details like deliverables, cost, timeline, etc. Once you have signed off on the proposal and brief and I have received the initial deposit, I can get started designing!
-
Once the papers are signed, I begin my design process that is explained more thoroughly below—researching, brainstorming, sketching, and developing.
-
Once designing is finalized on my end, we’ll have another meeting where I present what I’ve created. I’ll walk through my design decisions—how and why I made them.
-
After you have had a few days to let the presentation sink in, you’ll provide your feedback to me, and we’ll move forward as needed. The design may be exactly what you were wanting, but if there are a few things you want tweaked, now is the time.
-
After rounds of revisions as necessary are completed, the design will be finalized. Once I invoice for and receive the remaining amount due, the appropriate design files will be handed over to you for future use!
My design process
-
Gather
Before I even begin designing, I gather information on my clients’ needs, information on their competitors, project inspiration, source fonts, and more.
-
Brainstorm
Sometimes it is difficult to get in the creative zone. Through listing and mindmapping, I allow myself to think freely and begin conceptual development.
-
Sketch
Sketching allows me to quickly jot down ideas with a visual reference. Once I’ve completed initial sketches, I go back in and refine the handful that work best.
-
Create
Using my refined sketches as a blueprint, I can clearly and efficiently build out and digitize the design concepts on my computer.
-
Refine
Once I am happy with the designs, I wait…I sit with them and tweak as I see imperfection that I had previously overlooked. This time allows me to really touch up my designs.
